INTERIOR STYLING: DECORATIVE AUTHENTICITY

Reminiscing about particular decorative objects from an older post, I decided to revise one of my favorite posts from 2021 because, as a designer, I spend much time in architectural structures, transforming their respective areas to make them personal, functional, authentic, and aesthetically appealing to the occupants. And boy, I love and enjoy my chosen profession, and I would not trade it for anything. My passion continually soars to new heights every day because spending time in and out of different spaces, transforming them with various styles, is what I live for, and it keeps me in my happy place. And I must mention, even though I live for it, that whatever I do along my journey as a designer or in my life will never come before God, the most outstanding and extraordinary designer ever, who created everything.

So, what about those much-needed, unique, and dominating decorative objects? Should they be included? Heck yes!

My job is to create amazingly stylish and functional interiors and incorporate design elements and principles. As a designer, should I do the same for my house? Should I source the best for my home? Do I need to add all those extra details, such as intricate, ornate, elaborate, and statement-making, to create the character, style, and appeal, along with those must-needed and subtle wow factors? Heck, yes, and I get the opportunity to break all the outdated design rules.

My interior surroundings are an exact reflection of who I am, and when I sign off on a design project in that space, it is 110% as good as when I complete a design project for a client.

I admire beautiful things, but the not-so-beautiful objects are even more intriguing.

With that said, there are certain items I make sure to incorporate before a room's styling is complete: eye-catching décor. I seek objects that add more than character, style, and appeal. When I travel internationally, I find those unique pieces. Ordinary décor can sometimes become a bit boring. Therefore, I added items that elicited a long, fixed stare and made people wonder where the décor originated, and this is true for number two (African sculpture).

NOTATION: I purchased numbers 1 and 2 while vacationing in South Africa. Also, number 7 was purchased while vacationing in Italy.
