EXPLORING ITALY PART 2: JEWELS OF ITALY

I am always incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to travel the world nationally and internationally. However, due to COVID-19 and limited travel, I have reminisced on my many memorable trips. It is funny, though, because when I finally decided what I would post for the week, I saw tons of photos I had taken, and I laughed because I will never run out of visual inspiration, at least for a while. As a designer, it is the opportunity of a lifetime to travel the world and gain unlimited inspiration. So, regardless of where I go, my goal is to capture specific details such as extraordinary architecture, stylish furnishings, unique decorative objects, and fantastic interior and exterior surroundings that I can look back on to fuel my creative mindset.

Moreover, I posted EXPLORING ITALY PART 1 – JEWELS OF ITALY in February. I had to continue featuring these beautiful jewels with my obsession with doors. These large, thick slabs of wood, stucco, steel, concrete, stone, or whatever the material may be, exterior doors are an asset to residential and commercial structures. They can add character, color, intricate details, and much-needed style when there is no exterior appeal. On the other hand, this is an additional bonus if the exterior is already appealing and reflects the interior. There is nothing like beauty on the inside and outside.

Both posts feature dominant exterior doors from Rome, Paris, Florence, Verona, and Venice. I will eventually get around to interior doors, which are highly important. Until then, I will feature the beauty of objects that separate the outside from the inside. Each one is striking. The materials, finishes, heights, widths, muted/neutral colors, shapes, ornate details, and hardware (handle and hinge) are beyond statement-making!
