KCL-IDESIGN, LLC IS CRUSHING: BOLD & BOUJEE

KCL-IDESIGN, LLC – Mood Board Philosophy: is solely about designing rooms that will help inspire and give way to endless inspiration. Also, to become a source of motivation to help build the foundation for an authentic, stylish home and lifestyle.

As the Founder and Principal Interior Designer behind KCL-IDESIGN, LLC, one of the most exciting elements that I live by is incorporating color!

With that said, today it is all about CRUSHING on Purple, Yellow, and Gold. These three colors cohesively complement each other, and each can be dominating when combined. So, if there is talk about creating the perfect color palette that gives way to a wow factor, this is it!

This color palette can be in any room. If there is the need to add more color, which in my book, more is always better – make sure that it balances out cohesively.

Kimberly C. Lyons

Kimberly C. Lyons is the founding owner of KCL-IDESIGN, LLC (Interior Design Studio), and the Principal Designer. She has been slaying interiors since forever and refuses to partake of what is known as the norm when transforming spaces. With an intense passion for incorporating a wow factor to anything ordinary, Kimberly acknowledges, that she is recognized as a rare breed while splashing her signature touch when designing, which is considered extremely fun and exciting! However, besides being incredibly obsessed with extreme bold colors, captivating art, unique decorative objects, modern architecture, and the motivating phrase – “I dare you,” this overcharged and crazed interior designer lives for going outside the box and is not afraid to break irrelevant design rules. Her extraordinary obsessed passion for interior design comes from a deeply rooted philosophy, which is designing from within; from the soul, and it is always about living, breathing, and loving interior design!

Kimberly is addicted to chocolate, obsessed shopaholic, laughs hysterically just because, global traveler, football-crazed chick, head-over-heels in love with modernism, and is always inspired by the not so beautiful objects.

Lives accordingly by her motto: I live – breathe – love interior design.

SIMPLE ROOM DESIGN: DEFINED FOCAL WALL

When dealing with clients who are opposed to having all the interior walls within their space painted, the decision to define a dominant focal wall can be just as explosive. With this design project, the client was not comfortable with painting all the walls in her family room, but she knew that she wanted to make a statement with color. Even though I get overly excited just by the thought of painting with this exceptional finish, at the end of the day, it is always about what the client envisions for their home. With that said, as a designer, my job is to make sure that what clients envision for their home is put in place. Not only aesthetically pleasing and functional but meets all the client's needs.

Quick notation: The client was leaning towards orange and did not want it too bright or too dark. In knowing this, I made sure that I picked a little from both. The room would still be open, inviting, and warm. Regardless, whether working with a simple or a complicated color palette, I am passionate about making sure that it works more than just great in a room – it must bring the entire space together cohesively, and the atmosphere must evoke that it is a precise fit. However, after the focal wall, which is considered a backdrop for the entire space was in place, it was time to make sure that all elements fit perfectly like a puzzle.

Moreover, I am always impressed when existing furniture can be easily revamped by adding simple details. The client’s new furniture arrangement helps with easy maneuvering throughout the space. The custom bookshelves, which displays objects purchased during the client’s military travels, gave way to ample intricate details. Also, the additional splashes of color are by incorporating accent pillows, window coverings, area rug, and decorative objects that work perfectly with the newly designed space.
