Is this a living room screaming picturesque or what? It is dramatic, cozy, charming, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Visualize with me for a moment. Okay, I arrive home, open the beautiful barn door, and drop everything from a busy day as a designer. I sit briefly before starting a steaming, soothing bubble bath. I relax in this inviting, cozy, comfortable living room, with everything in its place. Oh, how good it feels to inhale, exhale, and breathe. As I glance at my interior surroundings, which reflect me, the occupant, it feels incredible because everything is in order, accounted for, and in place.

Can you imagine how good it would feel to inhale slowly, exhale, and breathe? Yes, your interior surroundings can significantly impact your livelihood. Now, take a glance through your rooms. Do they reflect who you are, the occupant? Is everything functional, in order, accounted for, and appropriately in place?

As a designer, I enter many houses where one or two rooms are slightly in order, but the rest could be more manageable and complete. Unfortunately, this can drag on for months and years. It is officially 2022; make it a top priority to start styling your rooms. Jot down any questions about the space you would like to style first.

Are the decorative objects a reflection of your authentic style and originality?
Does each piece of furniture support the occupant's body structure dimensions? I understand the importance of anthropometrics (height, weight, body mass index (BMI), body circumferences (waist, hip, and limbs), and skinfold thickness). It is essential for functionality.
How is the lighting (natural and artificial)?
Is there ample space for maneuvering in, around, and out of the furniture?
Is the overall room authentic and original?
Are the interior walls, ceiling, and flooring cohesively aligned with the overall style of the space?
Is there a color scheme?

The questions above are a simple strategy to help get the project started. Write down as many questions that come to mind, and answer each one, because this will alleviate specific problems. I do this with ALL design projects, even my house, and I promise it works. Good luck!
