The world is evolving back to normalcy, but it's not there yet. With more downtime than expected, what better way than to ensure that the interior surroundings we spend SO much of our time in reflect our desired style? The residential structures, which are supposed to be our safe havens, are sometimes inappropriate for our well-being and must be addressed. As a designer, I see it a lot. Whether a place to find peace, cooking, eating, sleeping, relaxing, gatherings, studying, or whatever the day may bring, more than ever, now is the time to make it functional and aesthetically appealing. Remember, every inch of the space should reflect the occupants who reside there.
I know it can be hard to start, especially when the frustration has already set in, but there are super-easy ways to add much-needed appeal, character, and style without SCREAMING and pulling out hair. Trust me, it doesn't matter what the current situation of a room is, the color palette, or the layout; GUESS WHAT—adding gold accents will make any space come alive and give it a unique vibe. I prefer combining steel, chrome, and gold accents, but nothing can compare to gold. Some are SO traditional and refuse to step outside their boundaries; in doing so, the chance to add other reflective surfaces and finishes can leave a room dark, bland, and boring.
Moreover, traditional styles are delicate, but it's entirely acceptable to incorporate materials beyond wood. With that in mind, it's time to seek inspiration on Amazon! Consider replacing those old wooden end tables with pieces that feature a touch of gold. Adding a glass top will add a hint of modernity. A combination of materials and finishes will create a subtle wow factor. It's not about overdoing it but introducing beautiful, stylish accents that won't strain your budget.
Design Tip: Remember, decorative objects and furniture should have a purpose and complement each other. Most importantly, all should work cohesively together to complete the room.
