RED adaptable, statement-making, dramatic, and definite traffic stopper. In giving my opinion, I do believe that sometimes a well-designed space can be created when there is a need to go outside the box of what is commonly known as good design!

I'm obsessed with red – it is my favorite color before yellow, which is my second favorite color. With that said, I tend to hear much talk about how it takes courage to use a decorative coating or wallpaper in the boldest shades such as red. I can't entirely agree. For me, it is genuinely about using the correct amount. Not having enough will not give way to an immediate statement and too much for someone who is not sure about such a bold color can become a bit overwhelmed. Even though most people associate red as the color of passion, to me – it screams drama and is the perfect accent for not so bright colors.

When we built our house, I knew beforehand that I was going to combine this radiant and enticing color with something extraordinary, and that is what I did. However, I will reveal that room later. Moreover, with so many shades of red, which can go with any style, it would be darn near impossible not to create some major drama. As a designer, I block out all negative criticism such as – red is not for the faint of heart or do not use red in a dining room. Really? I never get hyped about design trends because I know they will fade over time, and return. So, when choosing a shade of red to incorporate, trust, and believe – anything is possible with a creative mindset.

Design Tip: Red does not have to be the dominant color within a room or used on all interior walls. It can become a dramatic focal point when used as an accent wall. Also, it is a great choice to warm up large areas. It can be used with neutrals for enhancement or combine with gold to create a decadent effect.
