THROUGH THE EYES OF A DESIGNER. . .
So, it has been a couple of months since my return from NOLA, and I must relive for a moment because OMG, I had a blast at the 25th Essence Festival. I do know that there probably have been a million stories already posted, but the good thing about traveling is that everyone’s adventure and experiences are different. Even though it was my first time going to this extraordinary event, I was prepared to explore everything that was on my itinerary and more, and trust – there was not going to be any disappointments.
HOLD UP – WAIT JUST ONE MINUTE because I did become a little disappointed when I finally boarded after a one-hour layover to be told that I had to exit the plane for what turned into a six-hour delay. What in the world? With God’s continued help on learning to be patient, I managed and survived. Besides, hyper as I am, I occupied my time, and before I knew it, I was ready to board. With that said, I was more than prepared to enjoy myself, and boy was I right because it turned out to be the ultimate girls’ trip!
Okay, so after I arrived at the lovely Le Pavillon Hotel, which is amazingly beautiful, there was no time for me to lounge or chill because of my flight delay. However, after checking in, I hopped in the shower, got super cute, and was ready to hit the exciting streets of New Orleans. It was time to have some major fun!
I got my weekend started, and of course, being VIP, I decided to check out the Fire & Ice Essence Festival Kick-off Party with DJ Kid Capri, and boy was it rocking! As I stated earlier, even though my itinerary was full for the duration of my trip, I made sure that I dabbled in other activities as well. From going to an All White Converse Party, Hangover Brunch, Karaoke and Kocktails Midday Day Party, and as the festivities continued, I also attended three nights at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which featured a variety of non-stop performances and celebrity guests, and Loni Love hosted this.
What can I say? It was Exciting, Inspirational, Motivating, Up-Lifting, and most of all – Entertaining! I was glad to see Michelle Obama laughing it up with us (her audience) and enjoying the cultural moment that will become a beautiful part of history. There is so much to do, and there is no way to capture it in such a short time. NOLA, I will be back, but in the meantime - whether the architecture, nightlife, food, or entertainment, I am always excited to be part of such an extraordinary culture!
By the way, I strength train, so my trainer told me to enjoy myself, and not stress out about what I consume as far as food. Without further due, I came across some fried ribs – GOOD Googly Goo, what have I been missing? Also, I am not a burger girl, never have been, but this chief prepared one for me, and all I could say was HALLELUJAH!
After I arrived home from my trip, I sent up a prayer because of the flooding that had taken place. New Orleans has made it through several catastrophes, and you made it through this one as well. God is so beyond amazing!
