ENHANCED AREAS: Intriguing Intricate Details

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: My home's style says a lot about who I am, and therefore, the design is always an honest, authentic, and accurate reflection of who occupies the space.

When dealing with intriguing intricate details, regardless, they will be taken into consideration whether I am in the process of revamping a dated room, or about to start a new design project. Different factors will come into play as well, such as specific features, elements, characteristics, and even appeal. With that said, this is when intricate details come into play because, for me, they can become an essential part of the design process, which I prefer to incorporate from start to finish. I learned during the early stages of my design career, sometimes objects that are not so impressive or attractive can be the most intriguing and statement-making. Also, they tend to stand out and become the topic of conversation.

When I reminisce on several of my favorite trips like South Africa and Italy, this is where I have found incredibly eye-catching objects. They may not be as beautiful in the eyes of others, but is one of the main reasons why I lean more towards the ‘not so beautiful objects.’ I must say, they are indeed what I consider intricate details, and usually become the focus in my rooms. However, in my home, I like to create what I call ‘simplified wow factors.’ They are not your dominant or typical pieces, but they pack a powerful punch when it comes to adding the much-needed character and appeal.

Moreover, intriguing intricate details can be anything that creates an impressive wow factor. The photos below show different areas in my home. The details are not overpowering, but they make the perfect statement, which is a definite necessity when dealing with intriguing intricate details.

The interior walls have a drip technique effect using three decorative coatings, which creates a beautiful contrast with the Patina wall sconces. Yikes, talk about amazing details!

The lip art, which was hand-painted by me gives way to a textured look.

The interior wall itself is a specific intricate detail throughout the overall foyer.

Gold boot, which is a super cute umbrella stand, holds decorative umbrellas. They truly become handy on those rainy days.

This image was taken downward and captured the detailed rope that lines the wainscoting. It transcends throughout the dining room. Tassels are at the end of each opening to create a cohesive and finished look.

An over-sized buffet with carved intricate details displays the perfect knobs.
