Yikes, it is another beautiful day here at KCL-IDESIGN, LLC. I must quickly say that I am all smiles as usual. So, here’s the scoop. I am currently involved with a design project that is exhausting most of my time in an extraordinarily good way. I have not had much time to post, which gives me a sad face :-(. However, my face quickly turns into a gigantic smile every time I realize the enjoyment and excitement this design project brings to my life. The project that I am currently working on is a custom-built home, which is located at the beautiful Reserve at Lake Keowee in South Carolina. Also, all I can say is, OMG, I am sOooOoo overly excited, and I cannot stop smiling! The homes throughout this community are enormous, amazingly beautiful, and transcending.
Quick note: Introduced to the client at a trade show, hired on the spot, and the rest is history.
The images below were taken during the groundbreaking phase.
While I have been working on this Lake Keowee project, I have had a blast selecting different materials and finishes and preparing for the exterior, which is turning out great! I am a little anxious though as I cannot wait until this phase is complete to see the stunning outcome. I will say that I am also eager and waiting patiently to dive in and design the interior throughout the home as well. I look back at when I first met the client; we discussed many different styles as far as the exterior and interior of her home. However, through all the changes that have taken place so far, I designed what the client had trouble envisioning but expressed through words. I used her words to create what she could not envision at the time, and it is hilariously crazy because I am still patting myself on the back for taking her exact words and designing her dream home. There is still aways to go with the overall design project. However, the client and I are beyond happy with the outcome so far.
The client is admiring what has been accomplished since breaking-ground so far. I promised her that I would not capture her in the image, but I could not resist. My client is beyond adorable.
There is nothing more important than giving a client exactly what they have envisioned for their home. Moreover, by the way, it is my job as an interior designer to make it become a reality. Even though there is work to be completed on the exterior before designing the interior, I have enjoyed seeing the growth of the project through the ups and downs that can come with a design project, along with the different transformations that have taken place to get to a certain point. I must say that there has been a lot going on during this design phase, but the positives have outweighed the negatives. Also, with that said, as I always say, sometimes you have to break some design rules to give the client exactly what they want. The reasoning for me behind breaking design rules is about being creative. It requires thinking outside of the box, which in my book makes for Great Design!
These massive stones were retrieved while digging. Would be perfect for an eco-friendly waterfall.
Oh, and by the way, do you see my interior design studio listed? Yikes, I am the principal interior designer for this project!
