‘Books are versatile and therefore should be used as such’ – Kimberly C. Lyons
The people who know me will quickly clarify that I am a silly nerd chick who loves to read. So, when it comes to how I feel on specific design philosophy’s, especially when dealing with books, I must stand my ground because they do make a home. It is crazy because I honestly have more than enough to build a library. However, in this modern time where digital has taken over, I firmly believe that regardless of owning electronic devices or any apps that can store books, they will never replace how it feels to hold a book and turn the crisp, and detailed pages.
Moreover, electronics can never be displayed beautifully or be aesthetically pleasing, and therefore, I make sure to include books throughout my surroundings because the effect their presence has within a room is beyond amazing! Also, when I am transforming living areas for clients, I always try to incorporate objects that make a home warm and inviting. I strongly recommend at least a few of these versatile beauties to be displayed because the possibilities of the decorative attributes are unlimited as far as style.
It is impossible to include all the different details and designs that books possess. Their looks are ever-changing, and when used accordingly, they can give way to character, add interest, used as art (especially when displayed vertically), as well as become a focal point.
Design Tip: Good design is about displaying decorative accents uniquely, and this includes books.
