KCL-IDESIGN, LLC DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: INVITING LIVING ROOMS

‘Aesthetically pleasing interiors that are well-designed to me are always inviting’ – Kimberly C. Lyons

With interiors that have a spacious floor plan, I tend to find them open, as well as inviting. It is as if a cohesive vibe flows throughout because there are not as many interior walls in place to break up the overall space. I genuinely enjoy being able to lounge in one room and see the fantastic view of another. Awe, the feeling of being surrounded by well-designed interiors is why I enjoy designing them. Hey, what can I say? It is the designer in me!

With that said, when I see an attractive interior with a specific color palette, unique decorative objects, statement-making artwork, defined architectural details, along with the necessity of furnishing, flooring, lighting, and the correct elements and principles of design in place, to me, they are more pleasing to my eyes. I am passionate about making sure everything within a space is considered a complement to the other. However, above all, there must be a real purpose behind the designed room and much-needed functionality as well.

The interiors below are not only inviting but detailed. There are character and appeal, which makes each space overwhelmingly stylish. Moreover, I am crazy obsessed when there is color in place. Furthermore, I think a view from different directions is what makes any room open, as well as inviting.

She has been slaying interiors since forever and refuses to partake of what is known as the norm when transforming spaces. With an intense passion for incorporating a wow factor to anything ordinary, Kimberly acknowledges, that she is recognized as a rare breed while splashing her signature touch when designing, which is considered extremely fun and exciting! However, besides being incredibly obsessed with extreme bold colors, captivating art, unique decorative objects, modern architecture, and the motivating phrase – “I dare you,” this overcharged and crazed interior designer lives for going outside the box and is not afraid to break irrelevant design rules. Her extraordinary obsessed passion for interior design comes from a deeply rooted philosophy, which is designing from within; from the soul, and it is always about living, breathing, and loving interior design!

Kimberly is addicted to chocolate, obsessed shopaholic, laughs hysterically just because, global traveler, football-crazed chick, head-over-heels in love with modernism, and is always inspired by the not so beautiful objects.

Lives accordingly by her motto: I live – breathe – love interior design.

A DESIGNER'S STYLE: CALMING AND SERENE STAIRWAY

INTERIOR DESIGNER: Kimberly C. Lyons

ENHANCED AREA: Stairway

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: My home’s style says a lot about who I am, and therefore, the design is always an honest and accurate reflection of who occupies the space.

When it comes to using subtle, intricate details to make a dominant statement, OMG – I am all game! I mean, I am a chick who appreciates and admires aesthetically pleasing interiors. So, standing afar to catch a view of my well-designed rooms is a bonus. With that said, it does not matter which living area that I am walking towards; a beautiful view is always transcending. However, I must reveal one of my favorite morning rituals before I hop out of bed. I admit, sometimes I might be a little lazy on the weekend. If I decide to stay snuggly wuggly in bed a tad bit longer than usual, I get to enjoy the fantastic view of my stairway from my bedroom. Yikes, I find myself realizing the smile on my face is crazy big!

Moreover, when I emphasize that a home should have objects that bring happiness, this is a perfect example of why I wake up and smile because the view of my unique Buddha heads leading down my stairway makes me extremely happy!

Before building our house, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that there was going to be a stairway because I am obsessed with stairs. I have always been fascinated with structures that feature architectural details. Also, I knew that when I decided to design the space – it had to reflect who I am and objects that define my style. I took into consideration that I would be up and down a lot. Therefore, when it came to the interior wall, which is tall as far as height, I knew that I was going to do something over-the-top and time-consuming. So, I decided to incorporate three different paint colors. I made sure that some of the paint continually dripped and dried in place. I call it my signature drip technique. I enjoyed seeing the decorative coatings intertwine to create something unique. I must say that it turned out amazingly beautiful!

When designing this small area, it did not require a lot. I needed to make sure there was enough character, and it had to become a significant part of my overall home. When I take my stroll either up, down, or just standing at the top or bottom, I get a chance to see the different elements that make this area calm and serene. Most of all, I see a reflection of myself, Kimberly – a designer’s style.
